The people of the Philippines.
Though many Filipinos are living below the technical poverty line that hasn't quite stopped any of them from experiencing happiness and enjoying the richness of their culture and the environment around them.
A typical Filipino diet includes rice, bananas, fish, noodles, and pork. These items are typically cooked in coconut oil. The standard Filipino diet isn't thought of as typically being very healthy as it's very hard to eat a substantial amount of vegetables. Filipinos are very social and it's common to be invited to baptisms, blessings of new homes, and impromptu lunches and dinners. The culture in the Philippines is heavily inspired by the culture in the US and it consists mostly of what's considered an ideal Catholic lifestyle as well as a willingness to remain positive despite the situation around them. |
What makes the Philippines beautiful?
People typically find the most beautiful part of the country to be the waters or the scenery that surrounds the Philippines. Yet arguably one of the most beautiful things in the Philippines is the willingness to be kind to those around them. It's not uncommon for Filipinos to share whatever food they might have with complete strangers no matter how little is available. Food in the Philippines is an integral part of the culture as it's not rare to be asked about how much you've eaten as a greeting and to immediately be invited to dinner if your answer is less than satisfactory. The culture of sharing and food in the Philippines is the most beautiful thing as similar practices cannot be found in the US.

What challenges are the Philippines confronting?
- One of the main challenges citizens have been forced to deal with are extrajudicial killings at that hand of the police. Duterte has repeatedly encouraged the killings of who he believes to drug users or drug dealers. The validity of these killings has been called to questions as Duterte refuses to investigate these killings and instead claims them to be having a positive impact on the society.
- The amount of people infected HIV within the community of drug users in the Philippines has increased substantially since Duterte has begun implementing his hostile policies. His policies have made it difficult to access clean needles and instead people have resorted to sharing needles which has encouraged the spread of the disease.
- Another one of the main issues in the country is the fact that despite the stigma against child labor it still occurs much too commonly. The president hasn't created a way to systematically address the issues associated with child labor.
